Digital distribution maps of continental turtles and tortoises from Colombia

Abstract
This dataset contains information on the distribution of continental turtles Colombia . It was released by Wildlife Conservation Society, using records compiled by the presence of multiple authors for specific records book Biology and Conservation of turtles inland Colombia (Paez et al. , 2012) .   Data are polygon shapefiles distribution of each species. Two sets of data are presented: 1) the estimated distribution polygons by statistical methods (Maxent) and 2) Watersheds refined by elevation.   The description of the methods used and discussion of results are available at: Forero -Medina et al. 2014. These polygons should be considered as a first quantitative approach to the study of the geographic distributions of species. We hope to be a starting point to generate new questions and improve understanding of the distribution of the turtles of Colombia . We also hope that they can be improved with new field records .
