Abstract
Dominance hierarchies are one of the primary social structures among most Cercopithecine primates and drive much of the social behaviour of these species. Interest has focused on whether physiology differs in primates according to rank, and whether such differences are causes, consequences, or correlates of the rank differences. This study focuses on how the variation in secretion of stress steroids in high-ranking wild baboons relates to social dominance compared to stylistic behaviours.
