Abstract
In 2010-2011, the Wildlife Conservation Society carried out a study to investigate cross-border wildlife trade between Viet Nam and China in Quang Ninh province. Surveillance showed a large cross-border trade of many CITES listed species, including globally endangered species. The study found that weak governance and corruption of border and law enforcement authorities had led to the proliferation of smuggling by organized crime syndicates.
