Abstract
WCS Canada researchers investigated how slowing the travel speeds of shipping traffic may provide relief for marine species that depend on being able to hear one another for survival. They discovered that slowing ships by 10 knots can provide relief for whales, seals and fish and may be an effective strategy for reducing auditory stress in shipping areas.
