Abstract
Western populations of fisher (Martes pennanti) recently were designated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to be a distinct population segment meriting listing under the federal Endangered Species Act. This study looks at the risk to the fisher population in the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation of northwestern California from the canine distemper virus and canine parvovirus that are transmitted through contact with fecal material.
