Biodiversidade do Medio Madeira - Bases Científicas para Propostas de Conservação
Abstract
589/5000 The present study had as main objective to know a little more about the mastofauna of the region of the middle Madeira River in order to subsidize the decision making about the choice of priority areas for the conservation of the Amazon. This study certainly presents a preliminary list of the mammal species of the region, but this was sufficient to demonstrate the high species richness, endemism and biogeographic patterns important both for biodiversity conservation and for the future understanding of habitats and their use by organisms.
