Abstract
Amphibians both in the wild and in captivity are gaining growing recognition throughout the world. Veterinarians are becoming increasingly involved in the medical care of this interesting group of animals. Although amphibians have a number of unique anatomical and physiological features, the small animal practitioner can provide quality medical services by following the basic tenants of diagnosis and treatment. There are a variety of noninfectious medical disorders encountered when working with amphibians. This report will discuss common diagnostic techniques, noninfectious disease, and medical and surgical therapies that are commonly used in amphibian species. © 1995 W.B. Saunders Company.
