Abstract
We recorded and photographed two individuals of wintering Japanese quail on 28 November 2017 in Dariganga soum, Sukhbaatar province. To date, this is the first confirmed record of the species using photographs during the winter season in Mongolia. We also conducted the literature review and interviewed bird watchers to determine previous records of Japanese quails in Mongolia. We found that 4 sightings of Japanese quail were previously recorded during the winter between 2003-2016, making it a total of 5 records in Mongolia so far.
