MEASURE 29. Number of local, regional or national policies supported

ISSUE

Technical support to conservation related policies.

DEFINITION

Policies as in policies, laws, agreements or regulations. It can include agreements such as Memorandum of Understanding between local stakeholders and government authorities or even policies of an association (e.g., Society for Ecotourism Operators), as well as formal and informal regulations by local governments, communities and resource user groups.This measure is restricted to when WCS has significantly supported the development of the policy through financial and/or technical support and/or multiple consultations.

RESULTS

Over the last decade 516 policies have been developed with WCS input across the Amazonian landscapes, though 74% and 25.96% of these have stemmed from work in Bolivia and Peru respectively.
