ABOUT THE PROJECTS

The projects that comprise this site resulted from the generosity of these organizations:

• Digitization was supported by a 2023 Recordings at Risk grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). The grant program is made possible by funding from the Mellon Foundation.
• A 2023 National Film Preservation Foundation Basic Grant supported additional digitization as well as laboratory work to preserve threatened reels from the collection.
• Processing of the collection was made possible by the  Shelby White and Leon Levy WCS Film Archives Initiative, funded by the Leon Levy Foundation, 2022-2023.

Recent efforts to assist the collection’s preservation and accessibility have also been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Vidda Foundation, and interns from NYU's Moving Image Archive and Preservation Program.

Projects were carried out by Leopold Krist in his roles as Shelby White and Leon Levy Film Archivist and as Recordings at Risk Project Assistant, along with support from Brett Dion, WCS Archivist and Digital Preservation Manager; Cassandra Paul, Library and Archives Associate; and Madeleine Thompson, WCS Library and Archives Executive Director.
